Thai Massage – Massagesalon in Amsterdam

This massage uses force to target key points on the body to relieve pain. Although it is a harder massage, you will leave with a sense of balance and inner harmony. It is important that if you feel too much pain during this massage you let our massage therapist know immediately. They can then adjust the pressure levels to suit your needs.

Origins and History

Thai massage, also known as Nuad Bo’Rarn, has a history dating back over 2,500 years. It is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha. Jivaka was a contemporary of the Buddha and the personal physician of the Indian king Bimbisara. Jivaka is revered in Thailand as the “Father Doctor” and is regarded as the founder of traditional Thai medicine.

Influenced by Indian Ayurvedic traditions and traditional Chinese medicine. This ancient practice was passed down orally for generations. It was mainly performed in temples as it was considered a spiritual practice.

The core philosophy associated with Thai massage is the concept of ‘Metta’ or loving kindness. Metta is part of the larger philosophy of Buddhism. The traditional therapists were monks who offered massage as part of their service to the community.

In the late 19th century, King Rama III ordered that these teachings be preserved. They were inscribed on the stones of Wat Pho temple in Bangkok. Today these inscriptions provide the most comprehensive historical record of the ancient Thai healing arts. The temple is considered to be Thailand’s first public university, teaching students’ religion, science and literature through murals and sculptures.

What are the Benefits of a Thai Massage?

What makes this massage different from others? The effects of Thai massage go beyond relaxation. It improves blood circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system. This can have a number of knock-on effects:

Boost Your Energy Levels

Feeling low on energy? Our traditional Thai massage is designed to restore your flow of energy. We work meticulously on your pressure points and energy lines. This will leave you feeling energised and ready to tack on the world.

Improve Flexibility and Range of Motion

Say goodbye to stiff muscles and hello to a new, more flexible you. We aim to improve flexibility by engaging your muscles, joints, and ligaments in a series of stretches and compressions. This approach helps free up the flow of energy and can significantly enhance your athletic performance.

Relieve Headaches and Tension

Many of our clients find that Thai massage can relieve headaches and various types of physical tension. It is also an effective remedy for stress and depressive symptoms.

Feeling relaxed promotes emotional balance. Our mind and how we feel can trigger real health benefits. Doctors know this only too well from the placebo effect.

How to Maximise the Benefits of a Thai Massage

There are a few key practices to follow before, during and after your massage:

Before the massage:

1. Stay hydrated: Hydration keeps your muscles supple and less prone to injury. Drinking plenty of water before your massage can help prepare your muscles for the treatment.

2. Avoid heavy meals: Try not to eat a heavy meal before your massage. This will make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. A light meal a few hours before is fine.

3. Communicate: Before your massage, talk to your therapist about any specific areas of tension or discomfort in your body. This will allow the therapist to focus on these areas and tailor the massage to your needs.

During the massage:

4. Breathe deeply: Taking deep, relaxed breaths during your massage can help to reduce any discomfort or pain. It also helps to deliver oxygen to the muscles being worked.

5. Stay present: Try to stay mindful and present during your massage. Let your thoughts go and focus on the sensation of the massage.

After the massage:

6. Drink water: Massages help to release toxins from your body. Drinking plenty of water after your massage will help to flush out these toxins.

7. Rest: If possible, try to get some rest after your massage. This can help your body absorb the effects of the massage.

8. Regular sessions: As with any other body treatment, the benefits of massage increase with regular sessions. The frequency will depend on the needs of your body and your lifestyle. Your therapist can make a recommendation based on your specific situation.

9. Healthy Lifestyle: To increase the benefits of your massage, maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly. This will keep your muscles strong and flexible between massage sessions.

Remember, it’s important to listen to your body and communicate openly with your therapist throughout the process. They are there to help ensure that your massage is as beneficial as possible.

The Art of Thai Massage Technique

This massage incorporates a number of unique techniques. Our professional therapist will work on your entire body. They will perform a series of stretches and massage strokes tailored to your needs.

Traditional Thai massage focuses heavily on the concept of “sen lines” or energy lines, that run through your body. By manipulating these pathways, we can restore a balanced flow of energy or “chi”.

Thai massage, also known as ‘lazy yoga’, combines yoga poses with massage techniques, based on ancient wisdom. The results, however, are anything but lazy. You can expect to leave feeling revitalised, more flexible, and positively transformed.

This deep tissue massage was absolutely amazing! I've struggled with persistent muscle soreness in my upper back for a long time, and I've tried several professionals, but this center went above and beyond my expectations. I discovered it through a friend who found relief from their chronic pain here. The overall service is exceptional, the location is convenient, and the quality of the massage is top-notch. I'd give it a perfect 10/10 rating

Ann, bedankt!

My husband and I had a great experience with our thai oil massage. We had been in Amsterdam for a few days and with us walking around so much, our legs and back were so tight. The therapists were knowledgable about pressure points and were able to help us stretch and massage away the pain. The only regret was that we should have gone when we first landed after our long flight and then again before we leave!

I came out of my massage feeling fresh and new. I could tell that the therapist was being specific and paying attention to the areas of my body that really needed it. Its true that it hurt a little but it was very worth it!!! If you want a real massage I recommend this very much
